If I'm being honest, Pain never felt like he had a chance at winning this battle. It was just all a matter of waiting for Naruto to go Demon Fox and wrapping this up nicely. Throughout this whole battle, Pain just felt like someone who was way out of his depth but too stupid to understand that, which led to him thinking he was in control here. Like, nigga, Demon Fox Naruto at 6 tails was giving you a run for your money. Eight tails was strong enough to burst out of your strongest justu. What do you think is going to happen if he went to nine? You were going to puff out your chest and yell come at me bro and win? Nah bro. This fight was over the second you stabbed Hinata and you were just too stupid to get it.
